Originally from Belleville, Illinois, just outside of East St. Louis, he grew up with a passion for both sports and music. During his school years, he participated in marching band, where he played the tuba — an instrument he jokes was the perfect fit for him.

One of the most defining experiences of his life came at age 15 when he attended the historic Million Man March in Washington, D.C., on October 16, 1995. The experience left a lasting impact and helped shape his perspective on leadership, community, and purpose.

After high school, he earned a full football scholarship to Eastern Illinois University, where he played alongside future Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. During his collegiate career, the team won a conference championship, and he proudly earned both a letterman jacket and an NCAA Conference Championship ring.

Following college, he moved to Chicago with his college sweetheart, where they built a loving family together — something he considers one of his greatest accomplishments. Today, he is proud to be part of the St. John de la Salle Catholic Academy community, which he describes as an extension of his family and a place he truly loves.
